Resident in Pa. Died of Blunt Force Injuries, Coroner Says

Gail Dews died of "multiple blunt force injuries" the Pike County coroner said Wednesday afternoon.

Coronor Kevin Stroyan would not say where on Dews' body the injuries are but said the autopsy on Daws' body was completed Wednesday.

The injuries appeared to have been caused by Dews' fall down to the bottom of a 92-foot gorge off a Pennsylvania highway, Stroyan said, but Stroyan would not comment on how he thinks Dews ended up there.

Stroyan declined further comment because the investigation into Dews' death is "still ongoing," he said. 

Dews' body was found at the bottom of a 92-foot gorge in Shohola Falls, Pa., around 9 a.m. Monday. She was 56. 

Pennsylvania State Police have labeled Dews' death "suspicious." Her husband, Stephen, reported Dews missing shortly before her body was found, police previously said. 

Connie Devens, public information officer with the Pennsylvania State Police, could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.

Police Chief John Reardon told NorthJersey.com that the Wayne Police Department is not involved in the investigation. He said officers went to the family’s home on Kuiken Court twice: once in 2001 because someone reportedly dumped trash onto the driveway and again in 2011.

Reardon declined to talk about the second incident, the website reported.

Reardon could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
