Police Accept Unused Prescription Pills Saturday

Police want to get medications out of the house and away from children.

The police are encouraging parents to drop off expired or unused prescription medications Saturday at the police department as part of Operation Take Back, a national initiative run by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

Authorities have said that more and more children in Wayne are using prescription drugs. They often find these drugs in their parents’ medicine cabinets. Residents were told of the dangers of prescription medications at a forum held recently.

Only prescription pills will be collected. No liquids, needles and over the counter medications will be accepted. Medications should be placed in a secure plastic bag.
