Hills Graduates Encouraged to Make a Difference

Peers encourage Wayne Hills Class of 2013 to be positive and help others.

Making a difference, choosing to help others, and pushing themselves beyond their limits.

Those were some of the ideas the Wayne Hills Class of 2013 were challenged with at their commencement ceremony June 26.

“No matter what path you take, every one of us has the power to make a difference,” said David Ostern, class president.

Ostern encouraged his classmates to push themselves beyond what they know they are capable of and to step out of their comfort zones.

“To break new ground and make our world a better place requires people who are not afraid to take chances and push the envelope,” Ostern said. “We are the next generation of innovators and leaders. There is nothing that is out of our reach.”

Salutatorian Lauren Markovich encouraged the class to encourage and empower others.

“We are the future and it’s up to us to support the world around us,” said Markovich, who will attend the University of Delaware in the fall. “To the Class of 2013, let’s change things.”

Tiffany Dharia and Anton Gilgur are this year’s co-valedictorians. Dharia will enroll in the accelerated pre-medical program at Pennsylvania State University. Gilgur will attend Cornell University.

“Choose to lead your life in a positive direction from this day forward as you go college and we go our separate ways,” Gilgur said. “Choose to be the person [who] you want to be and who you are.”
