A Wayne resident pleaded guilty to two counts of maintaining a gambling resort in connection with an investigation into alleged gambling dens in Parsippany and Pequannock, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday. In his plea, Chester Ward, 40, acknowledged owning two businesses named Connection’s Internet Café. One on New Road in Parsippany, the other on Route 23 in Pequannock. According to Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp, Ward accepted money from individuals who were participating in “games of chance” at the establishments. A Warren man has been arrested for a series of four bank robberies and one attempted robbery that took place at Morris County banks over the span of a little more than one month. David G. Carroccia, 28, of Warren, robbed banks in Parsippany, Lincoln Park, Mount Olive, and attempted to rob a Kinnelon bank, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi. A Parsippany man has been accused of fatally stabbing his wife inside a Lake Hiawatha restaurant on North Beverwyck Road late Friday night, the Morris County Prosecutor said. Jiu Jian Zheng, 42, has been charged with first-degree murder, fourth-degree unlawful posession of a weapon and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Zheng's wife, Yun Fei Lin, 34, was found dead inside Kazumi Sushi at 81 N. The sixth bank robbery in a two-month span has occurred in Morris County, but this time an alleged robber was arrested, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi. Stephen L. Smith, 29, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with robbery and theft in the incident. The PNC Bank on Route 46 in Parsippany was robbed at 11 a.m. on Wednesday by a man who fled the scene, Bianchi said. The man did not show a weapon, Bianchi said. According to Bianchi, a man was stopped and arrested by Secaucus Police on Route 3 without incident. 'Suspicious' male seen at PNC Bank may be linked to series of Morris County robberies.
A "suspicious" man seen at a Kinnelon bank Tuesday afternoon may be linked to a series of recent bank robberies throughout the county this summer, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi, Kinnelon police responded to the PNC Bank inside the Meadtown Shopping Center at about 3:10 p.m. after a "suspicious" white male had been seen. Another bank robbery has taken place in Morris County and Parsippany, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. A man described as black, between 5-foot-10 and 6-feet tall and approximately 220 pounds allegedly brandished a handgun during the incident at Provident Bank on Smith Road at 9:25 a.m., the prosecutor's office said. They also said the man was described as wearing a ski mask, gloves, a jacket, jogging style pants and black sneakers. Authorities have released a description of the man believed to have robbed a Lincoln Park bank Thursday afternoon. The bank, Boiling Springs Savings Bank, is located at 60 Beaver Brook Road. The prosecutor's office said the robbery happened around 2:09 p.m. The man is described by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office as a white male in his 20s or 30s between 6-foot and 6-foot-2 tall. Authorities are looking for a man wearing a cowboy hat who robbed a Lincoln Park bank Friday afternoon, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said. This is just a guess.. But based on the charges, the type of business owned, sentence and lack of explanation on what the "ringleader" was doing, it sounds like he was just running an internet cafe and people were able to use the computers to get to online gambling sites.
