A new health care facility was ceremonially opened on Tuesday night. The new Pediatric Subspecialties Center on Route 23 North will provide local residents with a place to take their children who are in need of specialized care in a number of medicinal areas. The facility is part of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and the Paterson-based St. Joseph’s Regional Healthcare System. Physicians specializing in a number of pediatric care sciences will be at the facility. These include: gastroenterology, neurology, infectious diseases, allergies, and child psychology, among others. The It’s For The Children fundraiser will be held Thursday, Sept. 27. The dinner and tricky tray raises money for The Child Life Department of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. The department provides music and dance therapy, recreational activities, and birthday celebrations for ill children and a support system for family members. Funds are also used to purchase supplies and provide children with fun activities while at the hospital. Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church sponsors the annual event. The event has raised more than $100,000 since it began in 2002. The cost to attend is $50. The tricky tray includes gifts from local and national sponsors and businesses.
