B Street Band Performs Charity Concert Friday

Bruce Springsteen tribute band holds special performance to benefit family whose home burned on Christmas.

Greetings from Wayne, N.J. The B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band, will perform a special charity concert in Wayne on Friday. The band performed President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony Jan. 20. The concert will raise money for the Schweighardt family of Packanack Lake. The family's home was severely destroyed by a fire and they lost a lot of possessions as a result.  The concert, which is the band's last winter performance this year, is the latest in a series of charity events the community has held for the family.  The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the Packanack Lake Clubhouse. Tickets cost $45. Admission includes soda, hot and cold appetizers, a souvenir T-shirt, and drinks. Attendees must be 21 or older to attend…

Christmas Fire Victims to Benefit From Fundraiser

Applebee's breakfast will be held Jan. 27 in Totowa.

The friends of the Schweighardts will hold a fundraiser for the family at Applebee's in Totowa on Jan. 27. The family's Beechwood Drive home was severely damaged during a fire on Christmas night. The family was not home during the incident. The family has received support from local families and organizations since the incident.  A flapjack breakfast will be held at the restaurant from 8 to 10 a.m. Tickets cost $10.  The Wayne Valley field hockey team and the school's National Honor Society are sponsoring the event.  The meal will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and a beverage. Christmas Fire Victims Receive Community's Support

The Schweighardt family continues to receive support and assistance from local families and neighbors after their house was severely damaged by a fire Christmas night. The family has received donations from people throughout the township, according to an article on NorthJersey.com. "We're completely overwhelmed. We just can't ... there are no words to express how we feel," Carol Schweighardt told the website. The fire gutted the Beechwood Drive home. Police said fire appeared to have started on the back deck where a plastic bucket of hot ashes seemed to catch on fire and ignite the blaze.
