Dozens Run To Support Special Olympics

Dozens of people donated money to the Special Olympics by particiipating in a 5-kilometer run Sunday. Jackie Cohen organized, publicized, and ran the event as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award community service project. Cohen will give the funds raised by registration fees to purchase equipment and uniforms for the Passaic County Special Olympics team. Cohen said the idea for the event came to her out of her work with special needs kids at Wayne Hills High School. “I enjoy spending time with them. They’re such great people,” Cohen previously said. “There needs to be more information out there about the Special Olympics. I didn’t even know much about it until I started my research for this project.” It is unknown how much money was donated…
