The bad news is that many food colorings approved by the U.S. contain toxic substance and are actually banned in other countries. The good news is that you can easily color your foods with items in your pantry. All recipes here are based on coloring about 1 cup of white cake icing. Thanks. Girl Scouts Recognized for Earning Silver Awards

Mayor Vergano: "Thank you for setting a standard of excellence to which all Girl Scouts should aspire."

Eleven Girl Scouts from Troop 163 were honored at the council meeting Thursday for earning their Silver Awards. The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout cadet can earn. Projects must center around the community the girls live in and what they can do to increase awareness about a particular issue. The girls each received a certificate from Mayor Chris Vergano. "Thank you for setting a standard of excellence to which all Girl Scouts should aspire," Vergano said. The girls honored were: Kathleen Hopkins, Alyssa Greco, Alissa Paulison, Rose Weiss, Paige LoBue, Gabrielle DelPalma, Vanessa Stanfield, Amanda Sherin, Melanie Grogan, Christie Schweighardt, and Alyson Vergano.
