Residents Can Apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance
Government allocates up to $31,900 for applicants who incurred damage due to Hurricane Sandy.
Wayne residents can apply for assistance from the federal government for damage incurred to their personal property as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The federal government has extended individual assistance to Passaic and 10 other counties. Previously, assistance was approved for only 10 counties. The assistance comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual and Households Program (HIP). Homeowners can apply for up to $31,900 in reimbursements for the following expenditures: Money to rent a hotel or other temporary housing, repair damage to their homes not covered by a homeowner’s insurance policy, repairing or replacing vehicles damages by the storm, or paying for public transportation.
