Very nice. There have been a number of fund raisers for the officer and the people of the town have responded very nicely, perhaps we need to take the next step and make sure that the Town provides proper benefits for injured personnel so that fund raisers for their care and benefit are not needed. If the benefits were proper his care and income would be protected. We are not so revenue starved …   more ›

Christmas Fire Victims Receive Community's Support

Ruby Stanfield helps family recover by asking for donations via email database.

The Schweighardt family continues to receive support and assistance from local families and neighbors after their house was severely damaged by a fire Christmas night. The family has received donations from people throughout the township, according to an article on NorthJersey.com. "We're completely overwhelmed. We just can't ... there are no words to express how we feel," Carol Schweighardt told the website. The fire gutted the Beechwood Drive home. Here are the top Wayne news stories from the past year.

Homes were burglarized. A police officer nearly died. A mom left her babies at home alone for hours.  Men were killed in two separate automobile accidents. Those were some of the top stories that happened in Wayne in 2012. Here are summaries and links to those stories. The Board of Education approved a new policy prohibiting administrators and supervisors from coaching sports teams or acting as advisors of any district athletic, co-curricular, or extra-curricular program. The policy means that then-Wayne Hills Athletic Director and embattled football coach Chris Olsen had to choose between doing one job or the other. He chose to coach one more season and defend his state group sectional title. The team lost in the semi-final round of the …

Memorable Wayne Quotes of 2012

Here are some of the best responses from the past year.

Chickens, Jersey Central Power & Light, Wayne Hills football, Bob Franco, and floodgates. Those are the five topics that stories these quotes were found in were about. “I have a wife and kids to get back to and take care of and I have a career to finish. I am bound and determined to get back to the way things were. I need to be able to fully use my arms and legs again so I can give each one of those people who helped me that day a great big bear hug." — Wayne Police Officer Bob Franco on his desire to recover from a serious spinal cord injury he suffered during Superstorm Sandy. "It is going to be hard to walk away, but I realized this week that next week would be the latest we'd be around. I am going to miss the kids, it was a great group…

Thanks Dan, But it was more like 3 years. My wife and I were harassed over a law that did not exist. Town council compared what we were doing to running an illegal used car lot and I was told I had no respect for the law. All before I ever stepped in front of a judge. Finally someone took the time to pick up the law and read it. Thanks Judge Katz. It only took 3 years for the truth and thousands …   more ›
