George Washington, Theunis Dey Closed, Superintendent Says

Before and after school care will be provided.

George Washington Middle School and Theunis Dey Elementary School will be closed on Monday, Superintendet Ray Gonzalez said.  All other schools will open on a delayed schedule.  "We hope to have George Washington and Theunis Dey open for Tuesday, but he final decision will be made [Tuesday]," Gonzalez. said. Gonzalez issued a notice to residents Sunday afternoon about officials’ plan of action for the week. The notice was sent out at 4:30 p.m. and updated a half hour later. "We will only open up a school if we are confident that students and staff are safe and sound,” Gonzalez said in the notice. I have received calls 3 days in a row from PSEG letting me know my power has been restored. Funny since my street is littered with downed trees, snapped poles and wires. Again, wondering if they are making these calls to falsely boost their numbers. 8th Day since the storm and not one person has done work on our street. I am no fool, I realize there are people in worse shape.   more ›
