Clearview School

Clearview School is a private, nonsectarian school for grades 8 to 12 located on the grounds of the Church of theMore Annunciation of the Blessed Mary in Wayne. The school offers what it calls a "highly structured, educationally based alternative program for students who require more assistance with their studies or social awareness." Students are admitted after discussions with the Child Study Team of the student's local school district. The student body is small, numbering 78 in a recent year.

Classes range from traditional subjects to electives that include guitar, woodworking, yoga/meditation, knitting/sewing, jewelry design, child care and concepts of construction, among others. See the school's website for additional information.

Schuyler-Colfax Middle School

Schuyler-Colfax Middle School is one of three middle schools in the Wayne Public Schools district (the other two areMore Anthony Wayne and George Washington).

Students who attend Schuyler-Colfax are in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

School officials emphasize the importance of technology in their classrooms. Students use laptops connected to the school's wireless network, take advantage of two Web-connected computer labs and a media center and work in an up-to-date science lab. Teachers use interactive "white boards"  and textbooks with online components.

The school says its mission is "to help early adolescents prepare for a lifetime of learning in a changing world by developing each student's creative, intellectual and physical potential as well as fostering a sense of responsibility, self-worth and respect for others."
