The Wayne Public Library is a hub of community activity.

Besides its extensive collection of books, magazines,More CDs, DVDs and audio books, the library offers art exhibits, book discussions, story hours, movies, classes and lectures. The library also offers meeting rooms to the public and free Internet access.

The library has a collection of nearly 2,000 volumes of local history plus a sizable collection of genealogical information.

The Friends of the Library organization is a volunteer group that helps the library with fundraising and other projects.

The Wayne Public Library has one branch, at 1006 Hamburg Turnpike, besides the main library. The Preakness branch isMore adjacent to the old Preakness School, which now also houses the Wayne Civic Center and the Adult School. Patrons can return books checked out at the main library at the Preakness branch, and vice versa. The General Book Discussion Group now meets at the Preakness branch. The group normally focuses on contemporary fiction. The Preakness location features the therapy dog program, where chlidren can read to the dogs in the library.
