This small congregation is casual and welcomes regular churchgoers as well as those who have either never attendedMore church or haven't attended in a long time. Services feature a blend of traditional and contemporary music, and Communion is celebrated once a month. Wayne Presbyterian's community outreach includes support of the WIN Food Pantry; a Care Team that ministers to the sick; and participation in Habitat for Humanity. The church's mission statement is "We at Wayne Presbyterian Church welcome all people regardless of their place on their spiritual journey. This church offers many opportunities for congregants to get involved and its various ministries serve the broaderMore community.

Members can help to bring music to worship services by joining the Worship Band, Bell Choir, Sanctuary Choir or Children's Choir. The TORCH Youth Group offers fun, fellowship and community service. Both youth and adults in the congregation can help feed the hungry through UMC in Wayne's own small Food Pantry as well as collecting food for WIN in Wayne, CUMAC in Paterson and God's Creatures, which helps struggling families keep their pets. The church also organizes missions to help the needy in Passaic County and in Appalachia.

UMC in Wayne also sponsors Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops, hosts AA meetings and has its own pre-school.

Shomrei Torah's motto is, "Celebrating tradition, embracing the future." An affiliate of  the United Synagogue ofMore Conservative Judaism, the congregation upholds time-honored rituals and philosophies while maintaining a progressive outlook. Men and women contribute equally to congregational life, and interfaith families are welcome. Programs include youth groups, Hebrew school, and men's and women's clubs. Throughout the year, Shomrei Torah hosts parties for the congregation and entertaining events for the general public, such as comedy nights and fashion shows. Shomrei Torah does community outreach as part of the Wayne Interfaith Network, known for its food pantry, and the congregation's own "Mitzvah Corps" makes weekly visits to Emeritus of Wayne, provides transportation for homebound people and hosts dinners for homeless people.
