Passaic County Technical Institute serves some 3,200 students in grades nine through 12. More than 350 faculty members teach a curriculum of 200 courses on the school's 55-acre campus. PCTI began in 1917 as a vocational school started by silk merchant businessmen in Paterson to train workers for their silk mills. It expanded to become a fully-fledged high school, and in 1970 it moved to its current campus in Wayne. Passaic County Technical Institute now offers evening classes to adults and features a weekend program for 7th and 8th graders.
