Pet License Renewals Due Jan. 31

A $5 late fee will be accessed for each dog or cat not licensed by the end of January.

Dog and cat license renewals for 2014 are due by Jan. 31, according to a statement released Monday by the Wayne health department.

A licensing reminder was emailed to residents, but applications can also be found on Wayne's municipal website. Applications can be mailed or renewed in person at the health department at 475 Valley Road. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesdays until 7 p.m.

The license fee is $16.20 for non-neutered/spayed dogs and $13.20 for those that have been neutered or spayed. Proper documentation must be presented to show the dog has been neutered or spayed. The license fee for cats is $8 for those neutered or spayed and $15 for those that are not. A $5 late fee will be charged for each pet after Jan. 31. Copies of all certificates showing proof of rabies vaccination, neutering or spaying will be returned.

The health department will no longer mail dog and cat license renewals. The department requests email addresses for reminders to be sent instead. To be added to the distribution list, email mehtas@waynetownship.com or call 973-694-1800 ext. 3313.
