Holiday Events Abound in Wayne This Week

Children can learn about and play with toys from the late 18th century at a special program at the Van Riper-Hopper House Museum.

Here are a few things going on in Wayne this week.

Kids can learn about and play with toys that children from the late 18th century played with all week at the Van Riper-Hopper House Museum. The museum has also been decorated to celebrate Christmas in 1786. The program costs $3 for adults, chidren are free. It will be held at the museum Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and next week.

The Wayne Wildcats girls travel softball league will hold tryouts for its Under 12 and Under 14 teams. Tryouts will be held at Overtime Sports on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Prospective players should bring a glove, hat, batting helmet, and sneakers. Attendees should arrive no later than 5:45 p.m.

A Kids’ holiday craft workshop will be held at Captain Kilroy Park on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Kids will be able to make three crafts. For first-through fifth-graders. There is a $25 registration fee.

A Jolly Holly Legos craft time, also for first- through fifth-graders, will be held at Captain Kilroy Park from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. There is a $25 registration fee.

There will be a winter/holiday craft time held in the Young Adult section of the Main Library on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
