School Board Candidates Night, Redevelopment Plan Discussion and More This Week

Here are a few things we're covering on Wayne Patch this week.

Here are some things that are going on in Wayne this week and a few things you’ll find on Wayne Patch.

  • The six Board of Education candidates will answer questions from residents at a candidates’ night on Tuesday. The event will be held at the municipal complex from 7 to 8 p.m. Members of the Wayne Council of Parent Teacher Organizations will ask the questions.

Incumbents Allan Mordkoff, Robert Ceberio, and Mitchell Badiner and challenger Christian Smith will face off for three, three-year board terms. Rogger Ortiz will run for a one-year unexpired term against challenger Cathy Kazan. Kazan unsuccessfully ran for a three-year board seat last year.

  • A special meeting on preventing drug use by Wayne teenagers will be held at Wayne Valley High School Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Several local and county law enforcement and education officials are scheduled to
  • Wayne Concerned Citizens, a grassroots watchdog organization will meet Monday to discuss a proposed redevelopment plan to bolster the town’s tax base. The plan calls for the addition of several mixed-use developments in town, something residents claim would severely alter the feel and character of the township. 

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in meeting room A in the library.

  • Massimo Alois of Donna Paolina wines will be at Gary’s Wine & Marketplace to sample current releases from Paolina. The tasting will begin at 5 p.m. Friday.
