Firefighters Participate in Cook-Off at Fairway Market

Some of Wayne's heros will grill for culinary bragging rights on Sunday.

Wayne firefighters will put their culinary skills to the test in the Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off at Fairway Market on Sunday.

The fire departments from Wayne, West Paterson, Totowa, Little Falls, and Hawthorne will throw down and grill against in each other to win money for a charity of their choosing. Twenty-five percent of sales from Fairway Market later this year will be donated to the winning team’s charity.

The competition will be held at Fairway Market on Route 46 West in Woodland Park on Sunday at noon, rain or shine.

Food may be purchased $5 and samples of what the teams create will be available to try.

“Firefighters are famous for being terrific cooks and are justifiably proud of the firehouse cuisine they create,” said Bill Sanford, president of Fairway Market. “We really enjoy shining the spotlight on them and their grilling expertise and giving the community a chance to meet and greet these local heroes.”
