Wayne Coaches Inducted into NJSIAA Hall of Fame

One Wayne Valley and two DePaul coaches were honored for their records on and off the field.

Two Wayne residents and a Wayne teacher have been inducted into the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Hall of Fame.

According to a release from DePaul Catholic High School, township residents Joe Lennon, DePaul’s current Athletic Director and former head football and baseball coach, and Bart Fazio, the school’s former head boys basketball coach, were inducted in a ceremony Sunday.

According to the NJSIAA, John Gross, the golf and ski coach from Wayne Valley High School, was also inducted.

"Each coach inducted into the Hall of Fame is a commendable teacher, leader and role model for our young athletes,” NJSIAA Executive Director Steve Timko said in a release.

“They continue to set a good example on and off the field and these 2014 inductees set the bar high for current and future coaches throughout New Jersey.”

Lennon has been the Athletic Director, baseball and football coach, and social studies teacher at DePaul since 1982, and has coached many conference and county champ, and one state championship teams.

Fazio is the all-time leader in victories for boys basketball in Passaic County, with 445 wins. He has led teams to seven league titles and two County Championships.
