Scores and statistics from the previous week.

The following scores and statistics are from high school sports teams in town from the last week.

Football

Wayne Valley came back to beat Passaic County Technical Institute 17 -7  Saturday. Anthony Landberg scored a nine-yard touchdown run for the Indians. Valley tied the game at 7-7 in the second quarter on a touchdown by Patrick Benson.

Wayne Hills trounced Paterson Eastside on Friday 42- 0. Andrew Monahan scored two of three touchdowns in the first quarter on passes from Kevin Olsen.

The DePaul Spartans upset higher ranked Boston College High at home in a knock down drag out game 49 -35 on Saturday.

The Spartans had a"'refuse to lose attitude" that was clearly evident in their play after the embarrassing 43-3 opener they lost to St. Joseph.

Against Boston College High Zach Bednarczyk completed six of 10 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a score, Joe Moreno ran 24 times for 250 yards and two touchdowns and Massimo Aronson had five receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns.

Soccer

The Wayne Valley girls lost to DePaul Catholic 2-1.

Ashley Sanchez and Elizabeth Monsen scored for for the Spartans. Rachel Hofbauer had Valley's loan goal. The young Wayne Valley team continues to show promise as the season moves along.

The Valley Boys were also beaten by DePaul 2-1 on Monday. DePaul was behind 1-0 thanks to a goal by Anthony Nucci but the Spartans' Cody Pepe and Josel Mateo score in the second half to put DePaul up for good.

Volleyball

The Wayne Hills girls volleyball team is off to an rough start after a loss to Passaic Valley earlier in the week. the Patriots haven't won a game yet this season.

Valley's volleyball team beat DePaul Tuesday night.
