T.J. stands for Trent Jerry. He is named after Panthers owner Jerry Richardson. He asked the Olsens if he could accompany them to Boston to meet with doctors about T.J.'s condition. He has offered the family his unswerving support throughout the ordeal.

"At the time of the biggest need of our lives, the hardest thing our family has ever had to deal with, somebody who up to that point I just had a business relationship with went out of his way like that," Olsen told Panthers.com.

Olsen founded Receptions For Research and the Kicks for a Cure Kickball Tournament, the world’s largest charity kickball tournament. Both raise money for cancer research. His mother Sue is a breast cancer survivor.
