Chris Pantale, an alumni of Wayne Valley High School, was signed by the New York Jets on Saturday night following the third and final day of the National Football League’s annual draft, bleacherreport.com reported.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the signing on Twitter.
The 23-year-old Pantale played tight end for Boston College. The 6-foot 5-inch 254-pound Pantale made 98 catches for nearly 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns in his collegiate career.
“His versatility could make him an intriguing depth option for the Jets,” said Erik Frenz on bleacherreport.com.
Pantale was named to the Associated Press All-State Third Team his senior year at Wayne Valley. He posted a school record 16 sacks and made 26 receptions for 385 yards and six touchdowns that season.
Pantale was named a National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame scholar-athlete by the organization's Passaic County chapter.
Pantale earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Boston College in 2012.
