Little League Will Receive $99K to Fund Improvements

League will use open space funds to purchase lighting equipment.

The Wayne Little League will receive $99,000 to purchase new lighting equipment and fencing around a baseball field.

The county freeholders passed a resolution Tuesday appropriating the money from the Passaic County Open Space and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Program.

The resolution appropriated more than $900,000 to several municipalities and non-profits.

“These open space awards are important investments in protecting Passaic County’s environment and public parks for generations to come,” stated Freeholder Director Pat Lepore.  These funding awards to a diverse group of municipalities and non-profit organizations are going to improve our quality of life, create a more sustainable environmental, and make our public parks in Passaic County among the best in New Jersey.”

It is the second time this year the little league has received money from the program.

The Challenger division of the little league to help pay for handicapped ramps and other improvements at its ball field. The division is exclusively for special needs children.
