To commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, Wayne Township will host a Tunnel to Towers shadow run/walk approximately 3 miles on September 11, 2011. In an effort to show solidarity with the 343 Firefighters and other first responders who died in New York on 9/11 and the nearly two million servicemen and women who have continued the fight in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Wayne T2T shadow run and runs nationwide mirror, and take their inspiration from, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run held annually in New York City in honor of the brave sacrifices of both Firefighter Stephen Siller who ran 3 miles to the North Tower on 9/11/2001 to save lives other than his own, and the 342 brother Firefighters who died with him that day.
‘Let Us Do Good Wayne’ is our opportunity to show community Patriotism. We hope to provide awareness of and support to our first responders and servicemen and woman who continue to keep us safe and protect our freedom.
