Boxing Club Teams Up with Non-Profit to Help Kids

Title Boxing Club and Angels Without Wings are hosting a special event Saturday to help kids develop their self esteem.

Valerie Krsulic knows that getting a child to believe in him or herself can be a battle.

Saturday she is helping kids fight that battle. Literally.

Krsulic, a Wayne resident and founder of Angels Without Wings Inc. is teaming up with Title Boxing Club June 15 to help kids develop a positive imagine of themselves. Angels Without Wings is a non-profit Krsulic started last year to help teach kids that they are special, loved, and can do anything they believe they can.

“It’s the whole idea of being fit. Boxing helps keep you in shape and that can help kids feel better about themselves,” Kruslic said. “When you feel good on the inside about yourself you emanate that outwardly. Boxing and kickboxing can help you do that.”

Children can take a boxing or kickboxing class. Attendees will be taught the basics of boxing or kickboxing. Trainers from Title Boxing Club will instruct students. Classes will be held at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m.; each class costs $15 to attend, which includes hand wraps.

There has been more attention placed on anti-bullying initiatives in school districts ever since Governor Christie signed the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights more than two years ago.

“We’re parents, we know what bullying is and we want to try and help stop it,” said Yessenia Montalvo, who runs the Title Boxing Club with her husband, Jose. “We’d like to have a kids’ class every Sunday.”

The event will be held at Title Boxing Club from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a 50-50 raffle, giveaways, and a car show.
