Dozens Run To Support Special Olympics

Jackie Cohen's 5-kilometer run raised money for Passaic County Special Olympics team. Cohen created community service project for her Girl Scout Gold Award.

Dozens of people donated money to the Special Olympics by particiipating in a 5-kilometer run Sunday.

Cohen will give the funds raised by registration fees to purchase equipment and uniforms for the Passaic County Special Olympics team.

Cohen said the idea for the event came to her out of her work with special needs kids at .

“I enjoy spending time with them. They’re such great people,” Cohen previously said. “There needs to be more information out there about the Special Olympics. I didn’t even know much about it until I started my research for this project.”
