Tony and Kathy Dumani want to bring 'something different to the community.'

The executive chef of a renowed Bergen County steakhouse has teamed up with his wife to bring a new restaurant to Wayne.

Tony Dumani and his wife Kathy, Pompton Lakes residents, are the owners of Novu Restaurant, a new restaurant scheduled to open in December.

Dumani has been the executive chef of the River Palm Terrace in Mahwah for 14 years. The restaurant has received positive reviews from Zagat and other restaurant critics.

“We thought it would be nice to bring something different to the community,” said Kathy Dumani. “There are nice restaurants here in Wayne but if you want really fine dining in this area you have to go to Montclair or Morristown.”

The menu will include a selection of steak, seafood, and pasta dishes, including filet mignon with seasonal vegetables, lobster, and crab cakes.

“Food is meant to be shared and enjoyed with good company,” Tony Dumani said. “The fresh fare, intimate atmosphere and attentive service at Novu will allow our diners to sample a variety of flavors with the ones they care about.”

Novu is located in the Wedgewood Mall at 1055 Hamburg Turnpike. It will be open 4:30 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Novu is BYOB.
