William Paterson Raises Tuition For 2nd Straight Year

Get ready to pay a little more if you attend .

The university is raising undergraduate tuition and fees by 2 percent for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The university announced the increase Tuesday afternoon. It is the second consecutive year the university is increasing undergraduate tuition and fees by 2 percent, its smallest increase in 30 years.

Tuition and fees for a full-time undergraduate student will be nearly $11,700. The average tuition bill in 2010.

“William Paterson University is very sensitive to the issue of college affordability, and we have made a concerted effort for the second year in a row to hold our increase in tuition to 2 percent, which is among the lowest in the state,” John Martone, vice president for student development said in a statement. “We know that our students and their families often struggle to pay for college, and we will continue to look for ways to be more efficient so we can pass those savings to our students.”

The university touts itself as being “one of the most affordable four-year institutions” in the state. According to a press release, the school provided $10.5 million in aid, including scholarships and grants, to undergraduate students last year.
