William Paterson Hosting Substitute Teaching Workshop

Attendees can learn about planning and classroom management at two-day workshop.

A workshop for substitute teachers will be held at William Paterson University in a few weeks.

Attendees will be taught about daily planning, classroom management, and legal issues, among others.

The Wayne School District came under heavy criticism earlier this year when a substitute teacher was discovered to have hit two kindergarten students at Pines Lake Elementary School in March. The teacher worked for Source4Teachers, an independent hiring agency that assigns substitutes to school districts.

The district has taken over hiring substitutes. More than 250 individuals have applied for substitute teaching positions since the positions were first advertised.

The cost to attend is $150. The workshop will be held Aug. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. For more information click here.
