Wayne Valley High School Hosts Fashion Show

Fundraiser helped support Project Graduation.

Wayne Valley High School seniors dressed for success and walked the runway at the Venetian in Garfield April 7 to raise money for Project Graduation.

Project Graduation is a drug- and alcohol-free celebration for seniors, held on graduation night. The event is organized by parents and is created to give students a safe, memorable, and fun-filled evening with friends, while at the same time reducing the potential for drinking and driving.

During the event, the senior class displayed dresses, suits, and tuxedos on loan from various clothing suppliers. In a last-minute upset, one of their suppliers dropped out, leaving many girls with nothing to wear. Rather than cancel, the show went on and the community pulled together. Students, parents, and friends loaned out dresses from various events such as Sweet 16 parties, proms, and bridal party gowns.

Wayne Hills offered to donate dresses. The school said that: "Remember, there's two high schools, but one community."
