Suit: Wayne Boy Molested by Student on Bus

Caldwell-West Caldwell school district faces lawsuit filed by a Wayne mother.

A middle school student from Wayne was repeatedly touched inappropriately by another student while riding on a school bus to Caldwell, according to a lawsuit filed by the victim’s mother.

The Grover Cleveland Middle School student who was transported by bus daily was touched by a sixth grade student “in his genital areas” for several months, according to a lawsuit as reported on northjersey.com.

The case was initially investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, which decided not to pursue criminal charges, according to northjersey.com.

But now the mother of the victim is suing the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education seeking monetary and punitive damages for alleged emotional distress.

The suit also alleges that school staff should have been aware of the sexual touching and should have maintained a safe environment on the bus, according to northjersey.com.
