Student Records Now Available Online

Parents can access report cards, attendance records, and other information through Parent Portal.

Parents can now access their child’s attendance record and class schedule, along with report cards and progress reports, online thanks to a new electronic system the is utilizing.

The system is called Parent Portal. It is being tied into the district’s student information system. It will allow parents to access students’ attendance records and schedules in real time.

The system is scheduled to launch today, Feb. 1.

“This is part of an effort to improve overall efficiencies by leveraging existing resources while also trying to enhance the communication between the schools and homes,” said Superintendent Ray Gonzalez.

Parents of all district students can view contact and attendance information, however schedules, report cards, and progress reports will only be available to parents of students in grades 5 through 12 because those are the only grades where the data is generated electronically.

Report cards will be e-mailed to parents and report card data will be posted in the portal for secondary-school aged students.

Attendance and academic schedules are updated daily. Individuals with a question regarding attendance and grades should be directed to a child’s school.

Those who opt to use the service and receive progress reports and report cards electronically will not receive them in the mail. Elementary-school aged students will continue to receive paper copies.

Assignment grades will also be available to access in the future.

Letters were mailed to parents explaining the registration process through the district’s CommunityPass system, which has instructions on how to register to access the system.

A list of frequently asked questions about the system can be found on the district’s Web site.

Parents who have not received a letter should e-mail parentportal@wayneschools.com with their name, address, phone number, their child or children’s names, and what school they attend and the district will assist them in registering. An e-mail with log on instructions will be sent to parents who successfully registered with CommunityPass.

CommunityPass may also be used in the future to conduct transactions for student activities. Residents will be notified by the district if any new options become available through the system.
