Six individuals are running for election to the this year.
Tuesday was the deadline to file petitions to run for one of three, three-year terms on the nine-member board.
Incumbents Kim Essen and Donald Monteyne will each run for full terms. Incumbent Jane Hutchinson will not seek re-election.
The other candidates are: Catherine Kazan, Michael Bubba, Carol DiPasquale, and Eileen Albanese.
Essen was to serve the remainder of James Jimenez’s term. The municipal council to fill Lawrence Martin’s at-large seat in July 2011. Governor Christie appointed Martin to a super court judgeship.
Monteyne was to replace former board trustee Franco Mazzei. Mazzei was on the council last November.
Candidates have until Sept. 7 to withdraw their candidacy.
Residents can cast their votes for the candidates during the general election on Nov. 6. The board voted in January to move the election to November. A new state law allowed the change to be made.
Unlike in previous school board elections, residents will not vote on the tax levy. The board all on the tax levy until at least 2015. The tax levy will only go to voters if it exceeds a state-mandated 2 percent increase cap.
