Gonzalez issued a notice to residents Sunday afternoon about officials’ plan of action for the week. The notice was sent out at 4:30 p.m. and updated a half hour later.

"We will only open up a school if we are confident that students and staff are safe and sound,” Gonzalez said in the notice.

Officials said they are going to try and operate as many buses as they can.

“We’re concerned about kids walking with possible live wires down. We want to make sure that students and their parents are able to get to school safely,” said Board of Education President Donald Pavlak Jr. as to why the schools will open later rather than at their regular times.
