Middle Schoolers Take to Typing for a Cause

Students at Anthony Wayne Middle School raise money for two brothers suffering from a rare disease.

Students at Anthony Wayne Middle School held the Jason and Justin’s Type-a-Thon recently.

The event raised more than $1,400 for two young brothers suffering from MPS2.  The disease prevents the body from metabolizing complex carbohydrates. The students raised the money by completing words-per-minute pledges.

“The Type-a-Thon encouraged students to type correctly and make typing fun by raising money to help Jason and Justin’s family pay for medical bills,” said Melissa Krassy, computer teacher at Anthony Wayne. “It is important to teach our students to care about others and to be grateful for what we have.”
