Executive Superintendent for Passaic and Bergen Counties Retiring

Robert Gilmartin oversaw nearly 100 school districts.

The man in charge of reviewing school budgets and superintendents’ contracts for Passaic and Bergen counties is retiring on Friday, NorthJersey.com reported Thursday.

Robert Gilmartin, 70, was the state Department of Education’s executive county superintendent for nearly 100 school districts. As executive superintendent, he had the authority to veto local education budgets.
