Kaplan’s retirement would begin Aug. 16, the agenda shows. His annual salary is approximately $152,000.

Kaplan’s pending retirement is the latest in a series of moves involving school administrators. New principals took over at several schools this year including George Washington and Schuyler-Colfax middle schools, Ryerson and Lafayette elementary schools, and Wayne Hills High School.

District officials are accepting applications for three “anticipated” principal positions, one each at a district elementary, middle and high school. The listings don’t specify what institutions candidates would be applying to work at.

Superintendent Ray Gonzalez previously said that soliciting resumes in such a manner is a “somewhat common practice” and helps the district “expand our database of qualified candidates.”
