Education Trustees will be Sworn in Thursday

Cathy Kazan will not be sworn in due to an error involving a state-required background check.

The three Board of Education trustees who were re-elected in November are scheduled to be sworn in at the Board’s reorganization meting Thursday.

Mitchell Badiner, Robert Ceberio, and Allan Mordkoff were elected to three-year terms in November. They soundly defeated challenger Christian Smith.

Catherine Kazan, who was elected to a one-year unexpired term, was also slated to be sworn in. Kazan said in a letter to the editor that due to errors processing her fingerprints, as part of a state-mandated criminal background check, her fingerprints must be retaken. She cannot begin her term until her fingerprints are retaken and the background check is completed.
