The Board of Education elected new leaders for the year at its annual reorganization meeting Thursday. Two new trustees were also sworn in at the meeting.
Mitchell Badiner was unanimously elected president of the Board. He served as vice president last year.
“I’m honored to serve in this capacity,” Badiner said. “I look forward to continued, great success for the Wayne Public School District.”
The Board elected Allan Mordkoff and Laura Stinziano as 1st and 2nd vice president, respectively.
Kim Essen was sworn into her first full term on the Board. She was appointed to replace James Jimenez in September 2011.
Trustees Michael Bubba and Eileen Albanese were also sworn in as trustees. They both have never held elected office.
“It’s an honor to have been voted in by the town,” Bubba said. “I’m looking forward to the challenges. Right now I’m trying to soak it all in and get my hands all around everything. I’m trying to become a sponge of information.”
The Board will discuss its code of ethics this year and receive training as part of the process of becoming a certified board by the New Jersey School Boards Association. Some of the training will occur during board meetings.
