District to Receive $314,000 Grant

Money will be used to help fund roof project at Wayne Valley High School.

The Wayne School District will receive a $314,000 grant from the state's Regular Operating District Grant Program.

The district is being reimbursed for replacing part of the roof at Wayne Valley High School three years ago. The grant covers 40 percent of the project. The money will be placed in the district's capital project's account.

The program is administered by the New Jersey Schools Development Authority. It funds health and safety and overcrowding projects and programs for special needs students.

The state Department of Education selects school projects to receive the grants. Nearly $174 million has been dispersed since May 2010.
