No connection whatsoever...like most on Patch, I volunteer my opinions. But maybe I should consider going pro, you are pretty astute, and you are apparently convinced that I am a pro. I'll take that as a compliment...thank you very much.

Justice....one of the problems here in Town is you can only vote for 4 of the 9 Council members, 3 At-Large, and the one representing your District or Ward. The other 5, vote on matters that affect your taxes and quality of life, however, you can't vote for or against them. Frankly, I don't like the form of government we have here. I would rather see all the Council seats be elected by the majority of all voters here in town and not by a majority of a given District or Ward. Not sure what type of gov't we have here under the Faulkner Act, but certainly would love to see it change, so we could vote for or against all the people sitting on the council.
Frank Gallagher January 28, 2013 at 09:26 PM
Just look at where the at-large officeholders have been from in the past, most often the mayor and always 2 of 3 at-large council from Packanack. If all council seat were at-large...none by Ward, then you could expect the mayor and 6 of 9 on the council to be from Packanack. Is that really what you want? Even the Democrats' HQ is in Packanack. C'mon man.
Frank Gallagher January 28, 2013 at 09:38 PM
Among the complaints about mid-term appointments is that it gives the advantage of incumbency to someone who was not elected. The last election proves how bogus that complaint can be.
Bill January 28, 2013 at 09:55 PM
What have Essen and .... bought to the table?
Frank Gallagher January 28, 2013 at 10:30 PM
Is this the protocol around here? Somebody posts an opinion, and then stewart resmer investigates?... reviews past activity, searches for possible addresses, reveals voting eligibility? Hey J. Edgar Junior...not cool...give it a rest.
Justice January 29, 2013 at 01:33 AM
Stewart is not the only one investigating and sharing. He just posts faster. J Edgar needs a trip to Wayne. Heaven knows what will be dredged up from the pit.
Al Scala January 29, 2013 at 01:58 AM
Frank....what I want is to be able to vote for or against anyone who is voting on Town budgets and whatever else they vote on that affects my life or my taxes. If the people of Wayne want to elect 6 of 9 people from Packanack, or any other part of town, then so be it! C'mon man!
Al Scala January 29, 2013 at 02:05 AM
Frank....if the Board of Ed regulars would have supported Monteyne in the last election, he may have one. Esson and Albanese were strongly supported by the regular faction who were eagerly supported by the PTO's, and the WRRO. He was not and thus lost. Your point is moot as far as I'm concerned.
Frank Gallagher January 29, 2013 at 04:17 AM
Monteyne lost, and so did Kazan. Agreed, the argument that those appointed as mid-term replacements have an advantage in the subsequent election has little merit.
Frank Gallagher January 29, 2013 at 04:30 AM
Al...you can't always get what you want, so you are not likely get everything that you want. The combination of Ward & at-large representatives is modeled after our federal system, do you expect to be able to vote for all state and federal legislators as well? The Ward system assures that all sections of town get representation in local government, I hadn't imagined anyone opposing that....but here you are defying the imagination.
stewart resmer January 29, 2013 at 04:02 PM
gallagher, if you are going to inject yourself in to the discussion(s), and others are interested in what you have to add, then so it goes that some may be interested in who you are. And right now you have not been identified by name as a registered voter. A public register, accessable to the People. We call that an open society. And, being as how the board hired a PR firm and judging by your comments you seem to bolster the notions you do it is reasonable then to question whether you are a schill? Especially since you kinda just popped up after the issue became public? Maybe you would like to take this opportunity to introduce yourself, or not?
Al Scala January 29, 2013 at 06:36 PM
Frank...your point is well taken on the Ward/District system we have here in Wayne. I don't like it and frankly, don't think it will ever change. Art Smith for years argued this point and actually had a petition signed by quite a few people here in Town. With his passing, no one really knows whatever happened to the petition. As far as your snide remark about me defying the imagination, I would guess it is your imagination on the matter that is suspect.
Jack Q January 29, 2013 at 07:09 PM
Al, Do you think there might have been a reason Mr Monteyne was not supported? Maybe it was his voting record. I don't know. I don't agree that with the mid-term appointments that seem to define this town either.
Justice January 29, 2013 at 08:45 PM
Frank, What SS? I constantly zabasearch, white pages search etc. just like everyone else. So what? We live in a technological world where there is no privacy. In the past, phone books were used to look up people; now it is the internet. Phone books are obsolete the minute they are printed, especially Verizon as they do not include listings from Cable and other sources. The issue that Stewart and others may have with you is that you are posing as a Wayne resident when there is no record of a Frank Gallagher in Wayne. If you are using a screen name, then be honest and admit it. Many people are obvious with their screen names, some are not. The other concern, at least on my part, is the money spent on a PR firm and the extent that the PR firm has gone to in the past to sway how citizens voted in elections. In another instance, a college professor allegedly had her students post various comments as respects to an upcoming election. The students were not Wayne residents but "posers" who eventually admitted to the game.
Justice January 29, 2013 at 08:47 PM
I can't help but think that the non answer to Bill's question about Essen is an answer in itself. Silence is such a tell.
Justice January 29, 2013 at 08:50 PM
Frank, Your comparison of wards to states has me wondering if perhaps Wayne is planning to institute a separate "Ward Tax", just as the states have separate taxes. You may be onto something. Ward 1 pays the least, while Ward 6 the most????? Interesting
Frank Gallagher January 29, 2013 at 08:55 PM
resmer...I'm not a paid shill for the board, that's all there is to it, but you believe whatever you want, I can't help you get rid of your boogiemen. However, it is highly inappropriate, creepy actually, for you to go around "investigating" others who post here, and are careless enough to use their real name. In my book...that's stalking. I plan to convince Dan Hubbard of the same when I see him this Friday. Let's keep in touch, and see how this plays out...OK?
Frank Gallagher January 29, 2013 at 09:48 PM
You don't have to wonder, go to the council meeting and ask Joe Scuralli, he will straighten you out.
Al Scala January 29, 2013 at 10:16 PM
Frank, there are towns, here in New Jersey that all the Councilpeople are elected by all the people. There are no wards or districts. Hale don is one such town, as is North Haledon and Prospect Park. Yes, they are much smaller both in population and land size. So again, your point is moot. Frank, you're a shill. I don't believe for one minute that is your correct name. By the way, your name is not on the voting rolls.
Chicken Little January 29, 2013 at 10:53 PM
Justice Are you a shut in? Are you stuck in your room all day with nothing to do? You need a job, a hobby, volunteer work...something. 86 posts, and about half are from you.
Frank Gallagher January 29, 2013 at 10:56 PM
People use an obvious screen name, and resmer harrangues about using a real name. Then somebody pops in using thier real name, and subjects themselves to stalking OK...so to be clear...there is no expectation of privacy unless you use a screen name, is that correct?
stewart resmer January 30, 2013 at 12:54 AM
what ever frank, what ever
Al Scala January 30, 2013 at 01:18 AM
JackQ.....Monteyne is a very nice man. Quite intelligent and very well educated. I honestly don't know why he was jettisoned off the ticket. It surprised the heck out of me.
Justice January 30, 2013 at 01:32 AM
CL. I guess you have never heard of tablets or smart phones or other devices that have the capability of transmitting messages on social media such as this. I am glad that you are counting the number of posts I make. Have you counted the number of false statements made against innocent parties lately?
Justice January 30, 2013 at 01:35 AM
Frank, Do you mean the way Scuralli straightened out his family business in Totowa?
stewart resmer January 30, 2013 at 01:57 AM
whoa JUSTICE? what is that all about?
Justice January 30, 2013 at 02:46 AM
Stewart, it is Frank that THREATENED me with Scuralli.
Frank Gallagher January 30, 2013 at 03:54 AM
I threatened you? How is that? I just re-read the entire thread, where are the false statements? What are you talking about?
stewart resmer January 30, 2013 at 01:58 PM
frank is scuralli lol
