Board will Make Special Presentations at Meetings in February

District's special education programs and implementing an 8-period day will be discussed.

The Board of Education will discuss the district's special education programs and moving to an 8-period long school day at meetings this week.

A presentation on the district's special education programs will be given at the board's meeting on Thursday. The meeting will be held in the and begin at 7:30 p.m.

The district's special education program was recently found to be in . Most of the violations have to do with record keeping. The district has purchased new software to correct the violations.

The presentation on moving to an 8-period school day in the middle schools and high schools will be given at the board's Feb. 16 meeting. The meeting will be held in the council chamber in the and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Officials examined moving to an eight-period day in and earlier this year, but "felt that it did not have enough time to assess the impacts in terms of electives, what the impacts would be to higher-level students, what the impacts would be to lower-level students and their needs for remediation," then-board President Robert Ceberio said.
