Another Elementary School Principal to Retire This Year

Another Wayne principal has decided to retire this year. 

Laura Russomano, principal of will retire Aug. 1. The Board of Education is scheduled to approve the move at its meeting Thursday night. 

Russomano is the third Wayne principal who will retire this year.

Pamela Longo, principal of Pines Lake Elementary School, and Kenneth Kaplan, principal of Randall Carter Elementary School, will both retire in August. They each have been at their respective positions for nine years.

The board is also scheduled to vote on hiring a principal to replace Kaplan.

Jennifer Morris would take over for Kaplan Aug. 12. The agenda for the meeting Thursday says Morris has a master's degree from The College of Saint Elizabeth. Her pro-rated salary, which would be updated when the negotiations between her and the district are complete, would be more than $116,000. Kaplan earns $152,000.

Randall Carter is the latest institution to receive a new principal. George Washington and Schuyler-Colfax middle schools, Lafayette Elementary School, and Wayne Hills High School all have new principals this year.
