3 Schools Will Have Make Up Day Feb. 19

Pines Lake, Theunis Dey, and George Washington were closed for an extra day following Tropical Storm Sandy.

Three Wayne schools will be in session for a minimal day on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

School will be in session on that day at Pines Lake and Theunis Dey elementary schools and George Washington Middle School. The schools were scheduled to be closed for winter recess that day but officials decided to have a make-up day.

All schools in the district were closed for a week following Tropical Storm Sandy but those three schools remained closed for another day. The missing days were made up at other points in the district's schedule but the additional day needs to be made up at those schools.

Administrators sought input from the community to make an informed decision about what day the schools should be in session for, said Superintendent of Schools Raymond Gonzalez.
