Donations Desperately Needed by WIN

Hi Everyone,  Hope you can help out!!  Please read Pastor Karyn's email below.  If you would like to be added to the Wayne People email list, please email me at WaynePeople@RubysTravel.com  Thank you!

Hi Ruby, Please forward this to your People List. Thank you!

Dear residents of Wayne,
I just had a conversation with the coordinator of the WIN food pantry who informed me that their cash reserves are currently at only $2,000 - the lowest they have ever been. WIN spends almost $2,000 every month on Shop-Rite gifts cards, which they in turn give to their food pantry clients so they can purchase fresh food. The pantry's supply of non-perishable items is also very low.

In this month of national thanksgiving, I'd like to appeal to the residents of our community to please donate Shop-Rite gift cards and non-perishable food. The pantry coordinator is specifically asking for Shop-Rite cards in denominations of $10 and $20.
Cash donations can be made, but WIN is prohibited by the IRS from receiving more than $20,000 in cash per year. Gift cards and cash donations can be dropped off at the front desk of the Wayne Y, One Pike Drive (where the food pantry is located) or mailed to The Wayne Interfaith Network, PO Box 3341, Wayne, NJ 07470-3341.

Gift cards and cash donations can also be dropped off at The Packanack Community Church, 120 Lake Drive East, Wayne, 9:00am - 2:00pm, Monday thru Thursday, where they will be picked up by the food pantry coordinator. Please do not bring donations of food to the church, as the pantry is no longer located in our building.

Items needed by the food pantry:
Jam, Jelly, Coffee, Tea, Sugar, Pancake mix, Syrup, Canned fruit, Canned juices, Peanut butter, Cereal, Beets, Yams, Baked beans, Canned vegetables, Canned or instant milk, Canned or instant potatoes, Small bottles of vegetable oil, Canned pineapple, Canned pears, Canned meats, Macaroni and cheese, Chef Boyardee products, Mayonnaise, Chicken broth, Oatmeal, Tuna.

Also, WIN will once again assemble Thanksgiving food baskets for families-in-need on the Sunday before Thanksgiving (November 24). Each year, various houses of worship collect specific food items on that day and deliver them to WIN. Please consider contacting a house of worship near you and dropping off food basket items.

As we approach Thanksgiving Day, I am grateful that we have been blessed with such beautiful fall weather, and that our entire state has made such remarkable strides in the post-Sandy cleanup. Many families, however, continue to struggle with being able to put food on their tables, not only in Wayne but throughout our entire state. If you are one of those families, please know that the arms of our community surround you with support during this season of harvest. If you are a family that has been blessed with abundance, please give prayerful consideration to how you might be able to assist your neighbors-in-need.

Thank you everyone, and I pray that our entire community has a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
