On Saturday, December 10, The Wayne VOAD Volunteer Recognition Concert will be held from noon to closing at Willowbrook Mall.

Join us for a day of music and entertainment honoring the VOAD volunteers. “Considering all the disasters we’ve had this past year,” said Michael Gottesman, Vice Chair of Wayne VOAD, “it’s time for the residents of Wayne and the Passaic River basin to come together as a community and enjoy the holiday season.”

Wayne VOAD promises a celebration that includes the wonderful local talent of our community – especially our youth. We have a cavalcade of diverse performers – both professional and amateur – all celebrating the strength of our community.

Enjoy magic from Michael Turco of “America’s Got Talent” fame and folk singer Christine Deleon, a mix of Judy Collins, Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell.

You’ll find music for both young and old with Simply Acoustic’s Peter Puglia & Dave Mazarell doing covers, or Jodi Ray with soulful vocal renditions of John Mayer and John Legend.

If you’re into jazz, we’ve got you covered with the William Paterson University Saxophone Quartet and the Wayne Valley High School Saxophone Quartet.

If classical is more your thing, the Wayne Hills High School Woodwind Ensemble, the DePaul Catholic High School Concert Choir and the William Paterson Chamber Choir are sure to please.

Celebrating our young and upcoming talent, you’ll hear Sticks & Shades, the new Female Fab Four. These multi-talented 13- to 16-year-olds will surprise you with their vocal, guitar and drum skills.

For Broadway fans, Gabrielle Mariella and her friends will be your ticket. With a voice covering the spectrum of Broadway and Pop, she’ll have you saying, “Why isn’t she on “Glee”? Expect plenty of duets with her talented friends Alexa Martinez and Mike Restaino. And they all hail from DePaul Catholic High School!

If you are looking for classic folk/pop, Steve Beal and Roseanna O’Brien will satisfy your cravings.

Continuous music will be provided by Paul DeCarlo, weekend DJ at local radio station WGHT 1500AM located in Pompton Lakes, who will also MC the event. DJ's Michael Lobosco and Stefani DeCarlo will contribute their talents spinning today’s hits.

It is time for our residents to enjoy the holiday season and join Wayne VOAD in the celebration. Keep checking your email for a schedule of performances and plan to spend the entire day with us!

As part of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to support the efforts of Wayne VOAD, which is a non-profit organization. Wayne VOAD will have a Volunteers Recognition Tree. For a donation of $5.00, you can decorate and personalize a holiday ornament, which will be hung on the tree to honor our volunteers.

We are also looking for volunteers who could work in 2-hour shifts that day.

Wayne VOAD is an organization of volunteers who simply want to help our neighbors-in-need. We provide for the humanitarian needs of residents affected by disaster – food, clothing, shelter and moral support. We work in close partnership with Wayne township officials and other volunteer organizations to effectively support relief and recovery efforts.

Save the date and join us for a day of Celebration. For more information about the event or to volunteer, email Wayne VOAD at WayneVOAD@gmail.com. Financial gifts should be made payable to Wayne VOAD and can be mailed to us at 189 Berdan Avenue, Box 275, Wayne, NJ 07470.

(Please note, the list of performers is subject to change.)
