Did you know there are families right here in America who freeze in the winter for lack of proper blankets? Did you know that fathers sit up at night tending to the fire, just so their kids stay warm? After a mission trip this summer with the Appalachian Service Project (ASP) and experiencing firsthand one of the poorest regions of our country, we decided to dedicate our Girl Scout Silver Award Project to helping change that. In an effort to help America’s poorest communities we are doing a blanket drive for the homes we worked on during this mission trip while also living up to ASP’s motto of making homes “warmer, safer and drier”. We are looking for new blankets to send to these families. We will then ship them to the families before winter settles in.
