Dear friends of Packanack Community Church,

In the past week since our church building was hit by a major flood, so many people have offered their assistance to help us clean out and rebuild. We are grateful to everyone who came by to help or have called to show their support. It is really a sign of the strong bonds in our town that, when one group of people was affected, so many other groups expressed their concern. We never could have even begun to clean up if it wasn't for the compassion and generosity of our neighbors and friends.

Because of the nature of the event, our brand-new copier and 2 large air conditioning units were completely submerged and destroyed. We also lost all of the carpeting throughout the building plus a few pieces of office furniture. In addition, we had to replace the sheetrock on the lower half of the walls in one of our offices, plus the door and frame, because it had filled with 3 1/2 feet of water.

We have not yet heard back from our insurance company about whether or not they will cover us since we did not have flood insurance. So it is difficult to say at this point what our needs will be over the course of the next few months. Many people, however, have asked me how they can help. I am therefore sharing this information with you so that those who are interested can respond.

On Monday, September 10 (rain date: September 17), our church will hold its annual Golf Tournament at the Packanack Golf Club on Osbourne Terrace in Wayne. While we typically have a full flight of golfers, the economy has dampened the event. To date, there are only 10 golfers signed up for the 9-hole outing in the morning and 10 golfers for the 18-hole outing in the afternoon.

If you would like to help us raise the funds needed to recover from the flood while having a great time playing a round of golf at a beautiful course right here in Wayne (and/or supporting the event in other ways), please read through the information below and consider joining us that day.

9-hole Outing in the morning ($50) Golf at 8:15am with shotgun start Includes buffet lunch served at 11:30am Limited to the first 20 players to register

18-hole outing in the afternoon ($100) Includes buffet lunch served at 11:30am Golf at 12:30pm with shotgun start Includes refreshments, prizes, raffle, cash bar and dinner beginning at 5:30pm Limited to the first 40 players to register

Golf carts are available for 9-hole golfers ($15) and 18-hole golfers ($30).

Non-players are welcome to come for lunch ($15) or dinner ($25).
Individuals can also demonstrate their support by sponsoring the event as a Booster ($25), Super Booster ($50), Angel ($100) or Archangel ($200). Angels receive free lunch or dinner. Archangels receive two free lunches or dinners.
