Food Pantry Desperately Needs Donations

Wayne Food Pantry

Hi Everyone,  Please read Pastor Karyn's e-mail below.

Hi Ruby, Please send the following to the People List. Thank you!

Dear people of Wayne,

Find out what's happening in Waynewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

As you know, the Wayne Interfaith Network operates the township food pantry out of The Packanack Community Church. Our community has been incredibly supportive with donations of non-perishable food. There is an enormous amount of food that comes into our building every week, gets sorted and shelved, and then is packed in bags for clients to pick up. The problem is that the food pantry is currently serving 60 families every month. So as quickly as the food comes in, it goes right back out again. Even following the Jewish high holy days when the local synagogues took up a large collection of food, the food pantry shelves are still bare.

I am therefore appealing to the community on behalf of the Wayne Interfaith Network, and at their request, for donations of non-perishable food. Donations can be dropped off at the church during office hours (Monday through Thursday, 9:00am - 2:00pm) or at any time that the church building is unlocked. If possible, please mark all bags with the name of a donor, as WIN keeps track of where the food comes from. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated, as each client receives Shop-Rite gift cards so that they can purchase perishable items. Checks are to be made payable to "Wayne Interfaith Network" and mailed to WIN, PO Box 3341, Wayne, NJ 07474.

The following items are needed by the food pantry:
coffee, tea and dry milk; pancake mix and syrup; cereal; rice (both white and flavored packages), all Chef Boyardee products; cake, cookie and brownie mix; pasta; tomato products; cooking oil; ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise; protein bars; spam, hash and other canned proteins; canned tuna, sardines and salmon; canned chili; canned chicken; canned fruit; canned vegetables; toilet paper, tissues, napkins and paper towels; and brown grocery bags.

Thank you for helping our neighbors-in-need!
